Oh! I just remembered what I wanted to do for Komatsu’s birthday … and before I got sick. 

We’re such a small fandom, but sometimes we feel so far apart. We don’t even have a fandom “question” thingie that I see a lot of fandoms have. And it’s a shame … most people I’ve met here in this fandom are pretty nice. Moreover, all of y’all make me curious. How did you get here? What do you like about being here? What is it about this comic (not to mention its manly men and its meat!) that makes you a fan?!

*pokes fandom* *curious* I think I remember something about Komatsu’s b-day coming up. Anyone doing anything? (I actually have TIME this time around to do something, so … curious?)

Soooo sleepy. But I loved poking around the tumbler and seeing all the Toriko posts. ^_^ Makes me happy. With Zebra’s birthday and the newest chapter, there’s definitely been a lot going on. Kinda makes me wish I could, you know, actually get on Tumblr with some sort of daily regularity. XP

Newest chapter, however, just proves that A) I am not really good at predicting future chapters and B) the kings really should just tie a rope around Komatsu and let him blunder around while they watch (protectively) and swoop in to kill whatever ingredients lunge up to swallow him. XD 

I can just imagine the expression, though, on Komatsu’s face as he tugs ruefully at the harness/leash, then sighs and goes along with it because, hey, he’s Komatsu.

The thought of Ootake catching Midora’s attention actually never occurred to me - and I have no idea why, since it would make sense. Until recently I was half convinced that Ichiryuu was going to rescue Ootake and maybe even take him as his partner chef at some point in the future, because Ichiryuu needs a partner and someone needs to smack some sense into that boy’s head. (I have an outline for this very fic, though I’m not sure if I’ll ever write it.)

Hehe, for the record, I think it would be interesting if you wrote that Ichiryuu/Ootake fic. Right now, I don’t have a great grasp on Ootake’s character so I can’t quite comment on him, but the fandom always needs more thoughtful conjecture fic and you’d definitely do a great job, given how much I love your other work. (I still want that Toriko/Komatsu/Zebra fic you’ve been talking about. PLEEEEEASE?)

As for Starjun kidnapping Komatsu … y’know *tilts head*, I must be a bad person too, cause I sorta kinda want that as well. Starjun fascinates me — he seems to be the “noble” bishoukoukai and there’s just this sense of … oddness that is intriguing. Though I don’t quite think that Komatsu is his ideal partner, your conjecture about Ume really works for me too somehow…oooooo.

Hehe, it’s just speculation for a fic idea more than a real theory. I think the chance that Komatsu’s current cookbook is Frohze’s is pretty small — though now that I’ve looked through the Nitro chapter again, the translation only says that the book was created from what the creatures left behind, not that it was written  by the creatures.

And now that I think about it, the thing that keeps me tilting my head like a puzzled chihuahua is that Komatsu was able to understand the techniques because of his own cooking experiences — that means what’s detailed in the books must be similar to human techniques of food preparation, right? However … I think there was something in the manga about how nitro were kidnapping chefs because they wanted to learn human techniques. That’s the part that doesn’t quite make much sense. If they know human techniques, enough to write a book that a human chef would understand … then they wouldn’t need to kidnap chefs to learn their techniques, right? So perhaps the book was written by a human chef reinterpreting the nitro’s cooking?

Or perhaps I’m being too much of a dork and overthinking it. Stopping now before embarrassment really sets in. XD But yup, glad to be back and to see you too! :) How’s it going? I’ve missed poking around in the fandom. Actually, I have two drabble ideas, but I’m trying to decide if they are worth writing when I really should be either polishing the long fic or writing the end to it. *grumbles*

Okay, so that was quite a long run of radio silence. I was expecting it; at this time of year, work kinda subsumes everything I do. It’s not exactly healthy, but I still haven’t learned quite how to balance having fun with needing to pay the bills, but oh well. It makes me happy that there’s stuff like fandom to come back to whenever I get a chance to doggie paddle to the top of the load.

Did manage to read the newest chapter of Toriko. I’m still kinda snerking at the huge muscles Komatsu’s sporting … his head looks so tiny! And I bet Toriko had to lend him a shirt, because there’s NO way that he could have fit into his own wardrobe at the moment. (Since they said that this “doping garlic” could last a month, Komatsu’s probably going to have to live out of Toriko’s closet for that long. XD)

Um, oh gosh, thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the story, hehe, I was stuck on my other one, so I usually try a few writing exercises so SOMETHING gets done. I’m on vacation until next week, so I think there’s going to be a tide of fic (hopefully I’ll finish the long story) before I have to go back. We’re up to three already this week! Though I really need to stop the shorts and get done with the long one.

It really cheers me up to know people are reading it. Toriko is such a small fandom that sometimes I think it might be like writing in a vacuum. You do your best, but eh … oh well.

I can’t help but wonder what the world must be like for people with amazing senses! It makes me envious. While the Sentinel fandom was before my time, I read the old remnants of it; Toriko would actually fit very well in that world. For those who don’t know it, The Sentinel used to be an old cop show where a cop with heightened five senses went around with his little cop buddy and saved!the!world! (Sentinels were given the job to be “protectors” of their territories, or something like that. ) The show was cheesy as all hell not all that great, but the fiction was kinda awesome.  I think reading things in that fandom helped me think about how Toriko might feel if really, the world was a smorgasbord of smells to him. If we were to import Sentinel world into this one, the four kings would make a sentinel team and Komatsu would be their guide. I think it really is kinda neat, though, how they must see the world in comparison to us regular shmucks!

Anyway, if you can do the Papa Ichiryuu idea, go for it! I know it’s certainly going nowhere with me. *G* I think you do have a lot of leeway in the Toriko fic … and haha, I didn’t mean to type gourmet world, I meant the gourmet era. *double headclutchy*

(Funny story — I did a double take the first time they mentioned the “human” world, because I was like … what?! ALIENS! OMG! before I realized *sigh* what they meant. To this day, I have trouble thinking about Gourmet World vs. Human World being on the same planet. I know, I know, I’m weird).

As for age regression … hmm, both ideas are honestly  intriguing (though to be honest, I’m kinda not too comfortable at the idea of a mentally!young Toriko getting together with Komatsu … though it’s okay, if it’s one sided Toriko wants a very uncomfortable Komatsu. It’s just my thing, and not a judgement though.)

I’ve always wondered what kind of life the four kings had as teens … were they even able to be REAL teens (Complete with the loafing around, being cynical, etc.) or where they just trained to be SUPER!BISHOKUYA! and not really given a childhood. In the AU HIppo of a Fic  I’m pushing uphill at the moment, I’m trying to work through that as well.

Oh, I really really like the idea of a weaker Toriko having to deal with HORMONE CITY! Wahahahaha. Like I said, possibly their entire teenage years were spent training (and not indulging in said hormones … the way Toriko treats Rin, for example, seems to indicate he has NO idea what romance is) that’s going to be so fun. I can’t wait! You’re a great writer, so it’ll be interesting to see where you go.

Though I kinda secretly want a omake when you’re done of Komatsu ingesting said item and being even WEENIER. XD I can just imagine Toriko hauling wee baby Komatsu to Coco in a panic going “FIX HIM! HE GOT SMALLER AND IF HE GETS ANY SMALLER  I’LL LOSE HIM IN MY POCKETS!” Four Emperor and a baby. *Snort*

XD Hehe, you are more confident than I, my friend. I don’t think the Komatsu asks Daddy Ichiryuu for permission to combo with the Four Kings thing is ever going to come to fruition; it’s one of those chewbone thoughts. I totally agree with you in that there has to be a limit when writing, even crack. The heart of any really *good* crack fiction, I think, relies on the author logically thinking the WTF implications through, strangely enough. Otherwise, it just becomes random words and crap slapped together. Or at least, that’s what I keep telling myself to stop myself from unleashing eldritch horrors unto the fandom. XD

I think your regression fic has promise though. There’s lots of things out there in the gourmet world — why not something that makes you deage? (Is it a true mental age regression  though?)  After all, there’s things that Toriko eats that changes his body so much that he bursts through his shirts with more alarming regularity than the Chippendales. It’s kinda neat to see that in reverse. XD
