“It looks like a bad storm is brewing,” Komatsu said, curtains on his living room window pulled wide to reveal the gray evening sky, dark with swollen clouds. On the street below, people were hurrying to find shelter from the rising wind as lights lining the sidewalks flickered to life. “You should stay here tonight, Zebra-san.”
“A little rain isn’t going to bother me, kid.” Zebra frowned, eyes glued to the world outside, expression just as threatening, maybe more so, than the mad bit of nature gathering in the distance.
EEEE! This is awesome. ^_^. What a wonderful thing to come back to … it’s like the cherry on top of an already great day! I think my favorite parts are when Komatsu put his hands over Zebra’s ears … there’s just something very endearing in how Komatsu always does his best to look after his partner(s); all logical sense says they can take care of themselves, but still, he’ll run himself ragged trying anyway. You always capture that so well in those fics!
Again, your hand at giving just enough details is very deft; there was just enough information about the storm to paint it solidly in my imagination, but there wasn’t anything to the point of purple prose.
I also really enjoyed your author notes! XD. I think it’s perfectly OK Zebra’s going about it backwards … who’s going to be cocky enough to tell him otherwise? (Is it kinda weird for me to say that I kinda prefer the cuddling fics, sometimes, to the straight out sex ones? There’s something infinitely intimate in Zebra taking the time to map out Komatsu’s heartbeat instead of jumping right into sex, almost something that sex can’t match, since it’s something that he’ll only ask from Komatsu, in my opinion. But yeah, that’s just my opinion, I’m weird like that.
Thank you so much for sharing. I really loved reading it.
